'Singing Men From London'

TICKETS

To mark the start of his association with London Performance Studios, Jiminy Luke Doe has invited London based Chaps Choir to perform a one night concert. The Choir will share its joy-inducing, heart-string pulling repertoire of pop re-hashes, snowy hunting calls, and self-aware pirates – thereby inaugurating Doe's work on a new musical of his own.

Chaps Choir is a large singing gang from London; say goodbye to the male voice choir most would recognise. They have been delighting audiences around the UK since 2013 and collaborated with an array of performing artists. They’ve appeared on national TV, popped up at summer festivals around the country and raised money for mental health charities.

Collaborations include: Omar, Joe Stilgoe, The Spooky Men’s Chorale, The Magic Lantern, CALM, Voices Now, The Choir With No Name & The Music Venue Trust. In 2016 Chaps Choir released their first single with singer-songwriter Samantha Whates and went on to release a live album plus other video and recording projects.

The choir was founded and is run by singer & choir director Dom Stichbury. Since 2013 Dom has been creating positive and encouraging spaces for men to sing in. He went on to start London’s male voice community choir ‘Bellow Fellows’ and works on projects that encourage men into expressive spaces to sing and join together in community. He performs with The Spooky Men's Chorale and is one half of singing duo 'Ben & Dom'.

This event is organised by Jiminy Luke Doe, as part of the Associate Artists Programme at London Performance Studios

Chaps Choir: 10 YEARS

TICKETS

This June London's alternative male voice choir invites you to celebrate their 10th birthday.

***VENUE CHANGE***
Regretfully we have had to take the decision to change venue for our concert on the 17th June. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this change. We will no longer be at the Round Chapel in Hackney, however we are delighted and very much looking forward to taking our songs and singing into the beautiful grade II listed Saint James Church in Clerkenwell. (please get in touch about access requirements, as they are limited). All tickets are automatically transferred to the event at the new venue. If you purchased your ticket prior to May 9th, you are eligible for a refund if the change in venue does not work for you.

Since they began, Chaps Choir have been delighting audiences with their heart-string-pulling, joy-inducing singing and songs. For this decade celebration they'll be sharing new material and bringing you some of your favourite Chap covers.

Over the last 10 years the choir has built a name through their urbane, entertaining shows and unexpected repertoire choices. As well as filling many of London's grandest venues with their voices, they’ve performed live on national TV, collaborated with chart-topping artists, recorded at Abbey Road and been the subject of articles, news items & book chapters exploring men’s singing & male community. Their video projects & recordings have attracted a global audience, moved & inspired by this alternative presentation of singing men.

Dom Stichbury, founder & leader of the choir says, 'Back in 2013 I was caught by the strongest itch I've ever had..to start a choir for men that would turn into the brace-clad singing group known as Chaps Choir. I can hardly believe the journey it has taken us all on and the positive & vibrant men's community that has resulted. We can't wait to mark this occasion with our friends & followers.'
