Chaps Choir at The Union Chapel for our 5th Birthday gig | 19th May 2018

ABOUT

Chaps Choir is a large male singing gang from London; say goodbye to the male voice choir most would recognise. The group has been sharing its joy-inducing, heart-string pulling repertoire to audiences since 2013. Prepare for pop re-hashes, snowy hunting calls, self-aware pirates and, well, lots of men singing …

Since 2013 their voices have filled the Royal Festival Hall, The Union Chapel & other major London venues. Featured at Wilderness & Port Eliot festivals the choir has slowly built a name through its urbane entertaining presentation and unexpected repertoire choices. They’ve performed live on sat night prime time TV, recorded at Abbey Road and been the subject of articles & news pieces exploring men’s singing & male community.

Collaborations with artists & organisations include: Omar, Joe Stilgoe, The Spooky Men’s Chorale, CALM, Voices Now, The Choir With No Name & The Music Venue Trust. In 2016 we released our first single, a double a side 7" & electronic release in collaboration with singer-songwriter Samantha Whates, and in 2017 we released 'Blue Moon / Breezeblocks', a video & recording project.

Chaps Choir is on a mission to bring the metropolitan singing chap into the choral melee and envisions a world where all chaps (and ‘other’ men) can find their singing voice.

The choir was founded and is run by singer & choir director Dom Stichbury. Since 2013 Dom has been creating positive and encouraging spaces for men to sing in. He went on to start London’s male voice community choir ‘Bellow Fellows’ and works on projects that encourage men into expressive spaces to sing and join together in community. He performs with The Spooky Men's Chorale and is one half of singing duo 'Ben & Dom'.
